UPDATE -SPAM and new registration process

First, Thanks to all the MODs for their help deleting SPAM. It is a tremendous amount of work, and a real pain, so we should all be grateful for their work.

Second, since the numbers continue to overwhelm us, we will try a new registration process. We have already changed to a registration method that requires both user confirmation and the ability to enter a KEYWORD. This kept a lot of spammers off, and was especially effective with the "bots".

Now, in addition to the above, we will try a process where the Admin must approve each new registration. This will slow the registration process down, and for the valid new users might even make registration more complicated. They may elect not to join. But, at least this will give us a chance at catching the spammers before they can register and post.

AS OF MARCH 27. 2013, new TEXTUAL CONFIRMATION QUESTIONS HAV EBEEN ADDED IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE SPAMMING. As before, the Administrator will only register new users who complete the process above AND write to the Administrator to demonstrate their true interest in bluegrass and this site.
